The Genocide in Gaza
The claim “Israel is committing genocide in Gaza” is raised by South Africa before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the Hague just two and a half month after Hamas’ large scale terrorist attack on Israel on Oct 2 2023.South Africa claims that Israel’s military is not countering on Hamas but rather aims to end the Palestinian groups as whole. As this claim should not be considered slightly, as it holds a significant political and legal weight. But, the war continues and become increasingly brutal.
In just one day, the Isreali occupation killed 150 Palestinians and injured 600 others. While this is not the highest toll since the ongoing genocide against the Gaza strip began over 600 Days ago, what’s new is that Palestinians are now being killed in silence, with little media coverage as global attention shifts to the Israeli-Iranian war. This apparent silence seems to fuel Israel’s appetite for killing, as it relentlessly bombs civilian gathering, shelters, homes, and tents of the displaced. While the world watches, Israeli bulldozers continue to destroy home and refugee camps in Gaza and cities like Tulkram etc.
‘There’s no one left, people… enough, people…. my cousin was martyred, my uncle was martyred, the whole family… we just want the war to end.” -With these heartbreaking words, a Palestinian child bid farewell to his relatives who were martyred today in a heavy strike on the Al-Mavasi area west if Khan Younis.
Lack of Aid
Due to the ongoing conflict, the availability of humanitarian aids are lacking day by day. There are also restrictions on the access to Gaza and many other places, which makes difficult to supply it even there is no active conflicts or fighting. It is really a challenging situation, but there are a lot of groups and organisations trying to get aid to those people in Palestine.
Also here, fuel has become essential for survival in Gaza. Without it, hospitals can’t operate or keep patients alive. But still, fuel and other critical aids are repeatedly denied entry. Thousands of Palestinians are risking their lives in an attempt to get aid from the Zikim area in northern Gaza, but the occupation forces continue to kill Palestinians searching for aid.
Innocent Souls of Gaza
Children in Gaza are denied the luxury of a normal childhood or the time grow like others. Hunger forces their tender hearts to age far too soon, upon body still fragile. They out grow their years prematurely, and their childhood is ripped away – even as they cling to it. In heartbreaking scenes, children line up at charity kitchens, crying for a morsel of food to ease their hunger. Yet thousands of small souls in Gaza continue to fight between life and death. Children wrestling with starvation, illness, and shelling, their hearts are too weak to bear it all. How many more awaits rescue before the slip away? Time is slipping away… as their breath grow fewer.
Health Crisis in Gaza
The current and ongoing conflict imposed in Gaza, resulting in a health crisis that demands immediate attention and intervention. A comprehensive study about people of Gaza has evaluated the pressing mental health, water and sanitation, access to healthcare, and infectious disease challenges plaguing the region.
Mental health issues, particularly among children and adolescents, have surged in the wake of the conflict, with trauma related symptoms expected to persist. Indeed the only thing lacking more than water in Gaza might be food, the shortage of nutritious food can be seen in the faces of the desperately thin children, through the heartbreakingly common hand to mouth gesture. Urgent action is needed to stabilize the environment and heath impacts and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza to control the severe health problems.
